NARRATED DEMO

Names Move: narrated rotation demo

The next singer stays at the top. Watch Dana join the end of the line with alternation off.

By Paul Kircher · October 9, 2026 · 1 minute 20 seconds

Names Move keeps numbered positions down the screen while names move through them. With alternation off, a newcomer joins the end of the whole line, behind every existing seat. These recordings use development commit 0a73743c. Optional new/returning alternation changes newcomer placement in either mode.

Full narration script

Every spoken line, with the original timestamps.

00:00:00.000–00:00:10.000 | BEFORE · Three singers ready

Names Move keeps positions 1, 2, 3 down the screen. Watch the names change rows. Alternation is OFF.

00:00:10.000–00:00:20.000 | NOW · Alice sings song 1

Alice is on the mic. Bob is on deck. The rotation advances when Alice completes her turn.

00:00:20.000–00:00:30.000 | AFTER · Alice completes

Bob moves up to 1, Carol to 2, and Alice moves to 3. Her next song stays queued for her next turn.

00:00:30.000–00:00:40.000 | NEW ARRIVAL · Dana joins

Dana joins the end of the whole line, after Alice. This placement differs from Numbers Move, even though both show the same next singer.

00:00:40.000–00:00:50.000 | AFTER · Bob completes

Carol moves to 1. Alice is 2, Dana is 3, and Bob moves to 4. The next singer stays at the top.

00:00:50.000–00:01:00.000 | AFTER · Carol completes

Alice is next for song 2, followed by Dana. Dana arrived after Alice had already moved to the back, so she joined behind her.

00:01:00.000–00:01:10.000 | NOW · Alice's second turn

Alice sings next because Names Move placed Dana at the end of the line. A newcomer does not jump ahead of an existing seat.

00:01:10.000–00:01:20.000 | AFTER · Ready for the next singer

Dana is now number 1. This shows end-of-line placement with alternation off. Optional new/returning alternation overrides that newcomer rule.
